Information for Artists
I don’t live in Valpo. Can I be a CSA artist?
While we are trying to promote the arts specifically in the Valparaiso community, we recognize the fact that our arts community is larger than our city limits, and welcome applicants from the wider NWI region. If you live/work in Porter, Lake, or LaPorte County, Indiana, you are eligible to apply. 2018 Submission guidelines are available now, with applications due by March 15.
Do I have to be a visual artist/fine artist?
No! In fact we would love to see musicians, writers, fiber artists/craftspeople, and designers participate. Other CSAs around the country have featured things like CD singles, limited edition poetry chapbooks, and handmade crafts in addition to painting, drawing, and printmaking.
How much will artists be paid?
The stipend (and how many works of art each artist will be asked to produce) will depend upon how many shares are sold (with a maximum of 50). With a sold-out season, artists can expect to be paid around $1000 each.
Does the artwork I create for CSA Valpo need to be matted/framed before delivery?
No. Framing is the responsibility of buyers/shareholders. However, we ask that your work be delivered neatly, professionally, and protected (bagged/wrapped/boxed depending upon the format).
